(Los Angeles, CA) Oct. 29, 2020 — Emerging artist and multi-instrumentalist Clay Rodgers has just launched a brand-new, full-length album entitled, In the Hills of California.
The psychedelic jazz/rock album introduces the story of a character who wanders the Santa Barbara/San Ynez mountains, looking for people who have come to end their lives, submit to addictions, or otherwise lose themselves. The album takes listeners on a brilliant musical journey.
In the Hills of California is mainly influenced by psychedelic music from the 60s, as well as world music and funk. Rodgers draws a lot of inspiration from artists such as Khruangbin, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Madvillain, the Grateful Dead, Stevie Wonder, Vince Guaraldi, and Miles Davis.
“I have been teaching myself music production for a few years now,” Rodgers says. “This album is a big jump forward, and I am very proud of how it came out.”
