Break Free With JB Elwood's New Single, "Don't Go Looking for Love."

(Los Angeles, CA) August 23, 2022 - Whether you’re in a toxic relationship or not, Austin-based singer-songwriter JB Elwood’s new offering, “Don’t Go Looking for Love,” is a powerful anthem for anyone who ever felt stuck in a bad situation. With lyrics like “Cause there’s a snake inside the dove / Boy, when push comes to shove / Don’t go looking for love,” the song is both a rallying cry for those struggling with the fragility of love and a reminder that there is hope.

The music video for “Don’t Go Looking for Love,” directed by Alexx Dominguez, is just as powerful as the song itself. Shot in bright, expansive landscapes throughout Austin, Texas, it features JB Elwood walking through different places filled with symbols of his heartbreak. He takes out a map, which he follows as it points him to what feels like the direction of love, but toxicity can follow wherever you go—whether in the comfort of your home or on top of the mountain.

With his “ex-girlfriend” hot on his tails in the music video, the scenes symbolize how leaving a toxic relationship is never easy, but it’s always worth choosing to start fresh. If you feel like you’re drowning in your emotions, don’t give up—there’s always a way out, and as JB Elwood’s song reminds us, you’re never alone. Riddled with catchy hooks, powerful licks, and related lyrics about the tragedy of searching for love, “Don’t Go Looking for Love” is sure to resonate with anyone who has ever been in a dilemma.

Armed with his trustworthy 1960s Gibson Dove guitar, gifted by his late grandfather Eugene Jackson whom he calls “Poppy,” JB Elwood writes his songs with his heart on his sleeves, and he doesn’t hold back in expressing his thoughts and feelings. “I come from a musical family in West Virginia, where some of my relatives, including my grandpa, played the fiddle, banjo, and guitar, and others sang gospel songs on the local radio station.”

While JB Elwood found his home in Austin, Texas, he values his Appalachian roots in his creations. Taking cues from his inspiration, Elwood’s “Poppy” was an instrument who helped put him on the path to exploring his musical potential. “Every time I saw him, he would tell me: Son, you sure know how to pick that guitar. Stick with it, and you will go somewhere one day.

Fast-forward to years later, JB Elwood is making a name for himself as his own artist. To honor his other grandfather, John Elwood Ball, he labeled his stage name after him. JB Elwood's music is a mix of pop, alternative, country, and folk influences that pluck the heartstrings of anyone who dares to listen, and he is undoubtedly on his way to making his indelible mark on the music scene.

Other than “Don’t Go Looking for Love,” JB Elwood also captured one of the facets of a relationship with his previous song, “Say Oh,” with an enthralling music video that can be enjoyed on YouTube. The latest on the horizon is “Something in the Water,” a pop/alternative country tune talking about escaping from the 9 to 5 lifestyle, which reportedly will be accompanied by visuals as well very soon.

With a gift for connecting with his listeners, JB Elwood is sure to create more heartfelt songs that will stay with you long after the last note hits. Join his musical journey by checking out his YouTube, Spotify, and Instagram!
